The Hangout Gulf Shores Alabama In the late 1950's and early 1960's The Hangout was the coolest place to meet on the beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama. A place where worries went out the windows!

Gulf Shores Chamber of Commerce The Gulf Shores Tourist Association was formed on the island in April 1966. For many years this organization operated with the focus of promoting tourism to the area. The association operated as a membership organization but also received funds from the City of Gulf Shores and the State of Alabama. The building, which housed the Tourist Association, was one of the first Welcome Centers in the State.
